VASSILATOS, PETROS

A funeral service was held Dec. 22 for Petros Vassilatos, a Hoboken resident for most of his life. He passed away Dec. 19 in the presence of his companion, Patricia Horan, at their residence. Born in Cephalonia, Greece in 1937, Petros came to the United States in 1968 after seeing the world as a Merchant Marine. He was a restaurateur and chef as owner of the Castle Point Diner on Sixth and Washington Streets in Hoboken and retired in 2001 as the owner and chef of Riverside Restaurant in Little Ferry.
Surviving are his daughters Joyce, Barbara Shawlinski, Rachel, Alexis Maldonado, Maureen Hill, Denise and Crystal, and sons; Peter, Dior, Christopher, Theodore and Richard. Also surviving is a sister Maria Vassilatos, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his step children; Bianca, Justin and Kristyn, two brothers; Pete and Elli. Mr. Vassilatos also leaves three former wives, Maureen and Bernadette Vassilatos and Amira Mor. He was predeceased by the late Theresa Vassilatos, and five deceased brothers; Dominic, Alexander, Harry, Theodoros and Christopher. Services arranged by the Failla-McKnight Funeral Home, Hoboken.
