A funeral mass was offered Dec. 17 at St. Ann’s Church in Hoboken for Pasqualina “Lena” Rhodes, 87. She passed away peacefully Monday night surrounded by her family. Lena was born in Hoboken and was a proud lifelong resident there. She worked at Stevens Institute of Technology as a maintenance engineer as well as being involved with the St. Ann’s Church in Hoboken. She is the wife of the late Hoboken Police Lt. Leonard A. Rhodes and was the mother of retired Hoboken Fire Capt. Dennis Rhodes (Rosa), and daughter Frances Rhodes Kearns (Kevin). Lena was the grandmother of Eric and Jenny Rhodes, Christian and Paola Rhodes, Elisa and Stephen Hitchcock, Kelly Miller, and Hoboken Police Officer Roary Miller as well as her great grandchildren Cooper, Joaquin, and Juliette. She was predeceased by her sisters Marie Hetzel (Charles), Anna Comforti (Louis), Rose Annunziato (Frank), and Josephine Fitzgibbons (Michael); and, also, by her nephews Mark Rhodes, Hudson County Freeholder Maurice Fitzgibbons, Joseph Pieszhata, and Anthony Esposito. Lena is survived by her brother-in-law Charles Rhodes (Tina) along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
