Explosion at Military Ocean Terminal

According to an online news report, police confirmed that there was an explosion this morning at Bayonne’s former Military Ocean Terminal. It was reported that about 9 a.m. workers were pressure testing a gas line on Chosin Few Way when the explosion occurred, according Bayonne police Lt. Robert Wizbicki. According to PSE&G officials, there was no natural gas flowing through the main at the time of the incident, the report said. Police said that there was no danger of a gas leak. It was reported that two workers were taken to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, while one worker and two officers were taken to Bayonne Medical Center, according to police. One worker reportedly is in critical condition, one in serious condition and the third is being treated for minor injuries, according to police. It was reported that the two police officers are in stable condition, according to a Bayonne Medical Center spokesman. The cause of the incident is under further investigation.
