Bayonne woman charged with striking another woman with car

JERSEY CITY – A 23-year-old Bayonne woman was arrested Monday after she allegedly struck a 25-year-old Boyd Avenue woman with her vehicle causing serious bodily injury, said Jennifer Morrill, spokesperson for the City of Jersey City.
The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on Union Street near Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. The victim remains in critical condition at the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health.
According to police, the two women knew one another and had been engaged in an ongoing dispute when the driver approached the area of Union Street. The driver was allegedly maced and a large crowd of approximately 20 people apparently converged on the vehicle, attacking the driver. As she was attempting to leave, she allegedly struck the victim, causing serious bodily injury and knocking down a light pole.
The driver, from Bayonne, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and criminal attempt homicide. She was also taken to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health where she remains in serious condition from injuries sustained during the incident.
A 23-year-old Kennedy Boulevard man was also charged with obstruction after allegedly entering the crime scene against police instructions.
