Weaver named new Bayonne fire chief

BAYONNE – Deputy Fire Chief Keith Weaver will be the new Bayonne Fire Department chief following the retirement of former chief Gregory Rogers on Monday, Feb. 29, Mayor James Davis announced.
Weaver will be formally sworn in as the 11th chief of the Bayonne Fire Department on Friday, March 4, at a 2 p.m. promotional ceremony in the Bayonne City Council Chambers.
“Deputy Chief Weaver has been an incredible asset to the city throughout his career in the Fire Department,” Davis said. “During the past year and a half, I have had the great opportunity to work with Keith.”
The mayor cited Weaver’s passion for his profession, especially during a period when Bayonne has seen a spike in the number and severity of fires
“His professionalism, management skills, planning techniques, and knowledge of fire-suppression are second to none,” Davis said. “With all of this considered, I have the utmost confidence in him and his ability to lead the Bayonne Fire Department as chief.”
Weaver graduated from Marist High School and has two public safety-related degrees from New Jersey City University.
