3,000 gallons of oil recovered from Bayonne park

BAYONNE – A leak from an underground pipeline in a Bayonne park was identified on Monday, Feb. 22, and state environmental responders used vacuums to recover about 3,000 gallons of oil, according to an online report.
The leak is at the Halecky-IMTT Park, at the eastern portion of 27th Street.
The state Department of Environmental Protection said the oil had not seeped into any waterways and was not a threat to public safety, nj.com reported.
International-Matex Tank Terminals Inc., a bulk liquid storage facility for petroleum, chemical, and other products, owns the pipeline.
IMTT will take care of the rest of the cleanup, and will reimburse the state for money related to the original DEP response, the report said.
