A funeral mass was celebrated Dec. 1 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church for Rose Marie Vella, 94, a lifelong Hoboken resident. She passed away peacefully on Nov. 28 under hospice care at Hoboken University Medical Center. Rose was a parishioner and avid volunteer of St. Ann’s Church in Hoboken for some 60 years.
An employee of Maxwell House Coffee, she retired as a shop stewardess there. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominick; a daughter, Sandra Zitani; son-in-law Frank; daughter-in-law Bernice; brothers, Anthony and Jack Federico, and her sisters, Sarah Mazzo, Mary Ardito, Theresa Durand, Florence Lipane, and Nancy Spagnoletti. Rose leaves her only son Patrick to mourn her; daughter Rosemarie Ranieri and her husband Maurizio; a sister, Carmela Frawley; seven grandchildren, David, Dawn, Rosemarie, Richard, Tara, John, and Michele; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Also surviving are her in-laws, Liz and James and a host of nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Failla Funeral Home, Hoboken.
