New water main break in Hoboken

HOBOKEN — Sunday night, a water main broke near Second and Monroe streets in southern Hoboken, just hours after the city issued a release saying streets had been reopened a few blocks away following a major main break the previous Sunday.
City officials said the break would be fixed by Monday afternoon. Residents in the area were without water, although the break did not affect the entire town like last week’s break.
The city’s underground infrastructure is more than 100 years old. The pipes that deliver clean water run through those old conduits, although updates have been made. To read our cover story from this past weekend, go to hudsonreporter.com and scroll down to read the Hoboken News.
