Fire death in Jersey City may be ruled as murder

JERSEY CITY — A death in a fire on Mallory Avenue is being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office, city officials said. The fire, which occurred in the evening of May 22, is being investigated as arson. If determined that it was arson, the death would be considered murder, officials said.
The victim is a 50-year-old man who was living alone, and was the son of a state senator, NJ.com reported.
