Dear Editor:
Oh, I see: The “state will pay for some additional pre-K programs” in Hoboken, (August 4 Reporter), because “kids in the urban school districts deserve to have education that’s comparable to the suburbs, where high property taxes fund high-performing schools.
Well! Maybe the suburbs do have high property taxes and high-performing schools, and good for them, but Hoboken has one of the highest property taxes in the state, probably in the nation, maybe in the world, higher than any suburb, yet still has low-performing schools. Maybe our outrageously high property taxes (soon to be raised even more by “revaluation” now going on) are being misapplied, or mismanaged, or misused, or….what?
