To the Editor:
I would like to personally thank Mayor Mark Smith and Councilman Jason O’Donnell for saving Washington Community School summer camp at the 11th hour. This camp has been a wonderful experience for many years for all the children involved and, earlier in the year, we were told that it would no longer be continued.
Every child who has ever attended the camp is always eager to return the next summer. As parents, we worried about having to send our children out of town for a good day camp, but the mayor and councilman worked tirelessly to put together another great year. Sincere thanks to both of you from the parents and the children. And a special thanks goes to John Rickard, who runs the camp and makes sure that every child has an unforgettable experience.
