The small college of big dreams

In the world of colleges, St. Francis is a dream come true. Founded more than 150 years ago by the Franciscan Brothers, the mission of St. Francis has always been to help young people achieve their life dreams of personal and professional success by making a top quality college education more affordable.
Generations of St. Francis graduates have gone on to achieve great success as leaders in business, finance, education, public service, and more. And as alumni, they remain actively involved with the college by providing mentoring and internships to the next generation of dreamers.
That’s the St. Francis way.
Today, the St. Francis dream is alive and well living in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. Not only is St. Francis rated byU.S. News and World Report as one of “the best regional colleges in the North,” it is also one of the most affordable private colleges in the New York metropolitan area. With an exceptionally generous scholarship program, many students receive nearly full academic scholarships but we’re most proud that more than 80 percent of our incoming class qualified for academic grants and institutional awards based on their grades.
Majors at St. Francis range from classic liberal arts to pre-professional majors, concentrations, and minors like Biology and Health Promotion and Sports Management. Other students take advantage of the unique HDTV production studio and art theater. A five-year combined Bachelors and Masters in Accounting as well as a Master’s in Professional Accounting usher graduates on to jobs at both Big Four Accounting Firms and private companies. A graduate-level certificate in Project Management is also growing in popularity.
Students participate on 19 Division I athletic teams, including men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s volleyball and the nationally ranked men’s water polo team.
Whether students decide to commute or to live in Brooklyn Heights, the choice is now theirs. The college has partnered with EHS to provide student housing in the newly-renovated St. George Residence. The college expects all students to become a vibrant part of the community, learning about social responsibility and mutual respect.
The Franciscan tradition of the college ensures an educational environment that supports students and helps develop the whole person.
