AGAIN AND AGAIN: Two more young men shot dead this morning in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY AND BEYOND — In an alarming trend that has continued for over a year in Jersey City, two more young men were shot to death “execution-style” early this morning.
Last year, 10 of the city’s 28 homicide victims were men and boys under 25. Prosecutors have said that the homicides may be part of interrelated “revenge killings” by gangs in the city.
This morning, according to news reports, two men ages 17 and 26 were found dead on Woodland Avenue around 4 a.m., shot in the head “execution style.”
Two other men were shot to death in that style two weeks ago.
Last Wednesday, city officials held a press conference to tout the fact that every other category of crime (burglaries, car thefts, rapes) is down since last year, and blamed the press for focusing on bad news.

These murders are the fourth and fifth this year in New Jersey’s second largest city.
