Kickoff events for opening of Hoboken five-screen movie theater

Hoboken’s only movie theater will debut on Friday, Oct. 23 with a host of events. The theater is located at 14th and Grand streets, near the 14th Street Viaduct.
The first five flicks to play at the new establishment will be: “Amelia,” “Astroboy,” “Nightmare Before Christmas” in 3D, “Serious Man,” and “Couples Retreat.”

Clearview Cinemas, a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation, today announced that its new, five-screen movie theatre in Hoboken, New Jersey, will be open to the public starting on Friday, October 23. This state-of-the-art theatre, which is located on 14th Street between Adams and Grand Streets, will showcase the best in Hollywood, art and independent films as a premiere entertainment venue for members of the local community.
“If ever there was a community that would welcome a new state-of-the-art theatre, it’s Hoboken. This is a wonderful city with a rich history of embracing the arts and we are thrilled to be able to expand the city’s cultural scene by building a much needed movie house for Hoboken and its surrounding communities,” said Tom Rutledge, chief operating officer, Cablevision Systems Corporation.

The opening night celebration on October 23, called the “Friday Night Red Carpet Golden Ticket Event!,” includes live entertainment from local Hoboken artists, an Oktoberfest beer garden and wine tasting event for adults, which will be hosted outside the theatre on 14th Street from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The grand opening celebration continues on Saturday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., when Clearview Cinemas, Cablevision Optimum Rewards and the City of Hoboken will hold the “Ultrasonic Super Fantastic Family Day.” This all-day festival will include entertainment, crafts, activities and games for the whole family to enjoy. Children’s activities will include movie bingo, bubblemania, a petting zoo, pony rides and so much more.
Clearview will provide free shuttle bus service for the family day festival with stops at the 9th Street light rail station, through downtown Hoboken, at municipal garages, the Hoboken Terminal, and the ‘Park on Park’ garage at 15th Street.
In support of the local community, all proceeds from the “Friday Night Red Carpet Golden Ticket Event!,” will be donated to Hoboken’s Police Athletic League. In addition, Clearview will make contributions to two other important Hoboken youth-focused organizations, the Boys and Girls Club of Hoboken and The Jubilee Center.
The 20,000-square-foot theatre is a two-level, ultramodern movie destination with state-of-the-art technology to showcase the many 3D Hollywood films. Three of the five auditoriums will have stadium seating and high quality digital projection, and each auditorium will have the latest digital sound technologies. Also, the theatre will feature many additional conveniences for its patrons, such as leather rocker seats, automated ticketing machines, a waiting room lounge, two full-service concession stands, and a private event room. Moviegoers can expect to choose from a range of films, and enjoy the comforts of a premiere cinema complex that will be easily accessible by foot, bike, car or public transportation for members of the Hoboken community and surrounding areas.
