Police and fire personnel did a great job July 4

Dear Editor:
I write to thank and congratulate the members of the Hoboken Police Department and the many law enforcement and city personnel for a spectacular job in managing the July 4th festivities in Hoboken last weekend. By all accounts, Hoboken’s Finest made this a safe and enjoyable celebration of our nation’s independence.
In particular, I want to commend from the Hoboken Police Department, Police Chief Anthony P. Falco, Captain Edelmiro Garcia, Jr., Captain James Fitzsimmons and the many other officers on duty; Deputy Coordinator Joel Mestre of the Office of Emergency Management; Acting Chief Richard Blohm of the Hoboken Fire Department and all of the members of the Fire Department on duty; Superintendent Fred Moret of the Parks Division; Thomas Molta of the Hoboken Emergency Medical Services and the rest of the EMS on duty; Joseph Bucino of the Traffic and Signal Division; and the many other officers who worked around the clock to guarantee both our safety and an enjoyable day for both residents and visitors.
Prior to July 4th, I had an opportunity to attend a briefing on the Hoboken Police Department’s preparations for the July 4th firework celebration, and came away highly impressed by the level of professionalism, organization and preparedness of the police department and related law enforcement agencies. The commendable results of this collective effort were very much on display last weekend.
Too often we forget how hard our men and women in uniform work to keep our families safe and contribute to our quality of life. Last weekend was a reminder of how proud and grateful I am towards the Hoboken Police Department, the Hoboken Fire Department, and many other related agencies for their hard work and dedication towards our community.
Thank you again.

Sincerely,
Ravi S. Bhalla
