Spring Adopt a Beach

On April 25, the Beta Alpha Phi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Hudson County Community College hosted a Spring Adopt a Beach and a Great American Cleanup cleanup in Belmar. The Beta Alpha Phi volunteers, Patricia Correa and her son Dante, Hector Jimenez and his wife Paula, Mayra Londono and her children Lissette and Daniel Villalta, Kevin Loayza. Manuel Berrios, Qian Xie and her daughter Sitian Zhang, Isabel Nieto Canon, Safiatou Fridman, Sophia Worsley. Julian Velez. Dhaval Naik, Dinora Rabines, Kreetika Gupta, Maria Rodrigo and her children Alex and Julian, and her husband Eddie, and Ted Lai were joined boy over volunteers from eight sister Phi Theta Kappa chapters from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The sister chapters are Rho Upsilon, Community College of Philadelphia, Tau Gamma, Northampton Community College, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Raritan Valley Community College, Alpha Theta Gamma, Mercer County Community College, Alpha Theta Theta, Essex County College, Chi Iota, Burlington County College, Iota Xi, Union County College, and Alpha Eta Chi, Passaic County Community College. The volunteers picked up over three pounds of garbage off the beach in less than two hours. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has Adopt Beach cleanups in the spring and fall. Beta Alpha Phi has hosted the cleanups since 2007. The Great American Cleanup is an annual program of Keep America Beautiful… Beta Alpha Phi has participated in the Great American Cleanup since 2007.
