Dublin appoints chief of staff and freeholder committees

Hudson County Freeholder Chairman Jeffrey Dublin has named his chief of staff and appointed the freeholder committees for the year 2008.

The new chief of staff is Jersey City’s Attorney Kalimah Ahmad, a lifelong resident of the city. She is the daughter of Rafiq and Ameerah Ahmad and has one sister and six brothers. A graduate of Ferris High School in Jersey City, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in English and her Teacher Education Certification as a Dean’s List student at Montclair University. She received her Juris Doctorate in May 2005 from Seton Hall University School of Law. While attending Seton Hall, she was a three-time recipient of the Hudson County Bar Association Scholarship Award and authored a review of New Jersey’s criminal sentencing policy in a publication entitled, “Where Have All My Brothers Gone?: An Exploration of New Jersey’s 1,000-foot of a School Zone Statute.”

Ahmad was formerly employed by the Jersey City Housing Authority as a youth opportunities coordinator. She also worked for Merrill Lynch as a client associate, and in the legal department of Sony’s Urban World Films in New York City. She also served as an intern for Hudson County Superior Court Judge Shirley Tolentino.
