Dear Editor: A cooking fire in an unattended kitchen tore through the second story of a Jersey City home on Pamrapo Avenue on the afternoon of Saturday, July 6th, displacing five and injuring a firefighter. After nearly three hours of battling the flames in 90 degree weather, firefighters were able to subdue the blaze. Thanks …

Prayer and the light rail

Dear Editor: Experiencing reality of prayer as I was getting myself together today, in my daily commute from Guttenberg (I’m formerly a Hoboken resident), I began praying, and was so focused on covering everything and everyone in prayer, asking God to bless, provide and bring spiritual growth into our lives. While I was walking to …

Who is Governor Christie of New Jersey?

Dear Editor: Who is Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey? Is he a sincere man with honest refreshing qualities and characteristics geared to telling it like it is or is he just a buffoon, a clown, an entertainer using his rough no non-sense exterior as a shield to hide his inabilities and short comings as …

Summer reading for new administration

Dear Editor: With a fanfare that seems overplayed, Mayor Fulop just released the 155 page report prepared by his transition team. The magnitude of the effort has to be commended, but is this really a blueprint for change or just, and mainly, a set of recommendations to improve what is already there? If the new …

Jitney commuter van oversight

Dear Editor: The following is an open letter to Assemblywoman Jimenez Dear Honorable Assemblywoman Jimenez: I am contacting your office directly, in wake of the horrific accident that occurred on Boulevard East in West New York, in which an innocent 8 month old infant girl was killed. Boggiano and Yun care

Dear Editor: My statement regarding the 8 percent tax increase on Jersey City families: Yesterday, the council had to vote on a budget which included nearly an 8 percent tax increase on Jersey City families. Big government and tax increases is not what Jersey City needs. How can we be the best mid size city …

If he succeeds, we all succeed!

Dear Editor: The residents, taxpayers and renters of Jersey City are expected to receive a substantial property tax increase. This naturally is unacceptable, but was expected. The Healy administration had always developed a pattern, when they were in power. They always painted a rosy picture before the Mayoral election, of financial stability. It was the …

Enjoying the Summer

Dear Editor: The nicer weather is now upon us. Outdoor barbecues and backyard parties give families a chance to relax and enjoy themselves. Invite your friends over, but please be considerate of your neighbors. Most everyone loves music, but is it really necessary to play it so loudly that the whole neighborhood hears it? I …
