โ€˜Spending money we do not haveโ€™

To the Editor: The City of Bayonne has a cash flow problem and plans to get over the hump. Mayor Smithsโ€™ campaign slogan was โ€œMoving Bayonne Forwardโ€ but it appears he is moving Bayonne backwards to fiscal oblivion! During the campaign for Mayor he knew the bad financial status of our city but he never …

Thank you, Jason Oโ€™Donnell

To the Editor: The officers and members of the Unity Social Club would like to thank Jason Oโ€™Donnell and his assistant for the fine work they did by cooking for our July 4 barbeque. Jason has been extremely helpful to us over the past few months. He is someone we can be very proud of. …

Saddened by Tear Drop Monument removal

To the Editor: The Port Authority will have the Tear Drop Monument removed. This is an affront to the martyrs whose names are enshrined on the Tear Drop Monument. They deserve better. There also several hundred plaques in the grounds surrounding the Monument. These were placed there in memory of loved ones. I have one …

Willy Wonka performance a delight

To the Editor: If you didnโ€™t see the musical โ€œWilly Wonkaโ€ held recently at Bayonne High School, you surely missed out on another great entertainment. The Gloops were hilarious: their mantra โ€œEat more! Eat more!โ€ was certainly worth considering, though Iโ€™m glad that I wasnโ€™t anywhere near the stage in the last showing or I …

โ€˜What were they thinking?โ€™

To the Editor: On Tuesday, July 29, the greatest theft in history happened in Bayonne. The BLRA sold three valuable parcels of land on the MOT to the Port Authority for cheap. After so many years of nonsense it came down to a fire sale so the city could cover its budget hole and the …

โ€˜Please consider TNRโ€™

To the Editor: Mayor Smith & City Council of Bayonne: I am a lifelong resident of Bayonne. This is in regards to the City Council meeting on July 28 on the feral cats. Kathleen Henderson is a great person with compassion for the cats. TNR really does work. I have cats in my yard, they …

โ€˜I am humbled and honoredโ€™

To the Editor: I would like to express my sincere thanks to the people of the 3rd Ward for electing me to the Bayonne Municipal Council. Your support and trust is something I will never forget. I am humbled and honored to have the privilege of being your public servant. Just as you were there …

โ€˜Slow down and enjoyโ€™

To the Editor: Things are changing in our society, but some of these changes are not for the better. People are less concerned with their fellow man. It is a โ€œme firstโ€ society. Look around Bayonne. You see people riding their bicycles on the sidewalk. This is a serious problem, especially on Broadway. Cyclists come …

โ€˜Why is it up to Mayor Smith?โ€™

To the Editor: This is in response to Lorraine Collinsโ€™ letter, โ€œAbout the feral cat situationโ€ published in the July 14 issue of the โ€œBayonne Community News.โ€ You falsely accuse Mayor Smith and the City Council that they are not animal friendly. This has nothing to do with being animal friendly nor do they want …
