A prayer service was held Jan. 23 for Joseph J. Molnar. He passed away Jan 19. Born and raised in Jersey City, he first became the operator and then owner of his family run tavern which was first owned and operated by his parents, Louis and Katie, The Old Bay House Bar and Grill in Jersey City, the first such establishment to receive a liquor license in Jersey City. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Katie; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Meyer, Mrs. Mary Kondek, and Mrs. Kathryn Sullivan; brother Louis and his Irene Yankers. He is survived by his sister Mrs. Agnes Reilly. He is also survived by his daughter Joanne Maillaro and her husband Jack, family Irene and John Amabile and Steven and Jody Yankers. He was also the grandparent of 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He entered into the military in 1940 and served in World War II, Company C 164th Engineer Combat Battalion Army of the US. He was an avid reader, played a great game of darts and billiards and was a master at “word and prose.” He was also a great carpenter, taught by his father Louis. He was also a very gifted story and joke teller, bringing much laughter to many people. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
