RYAN, FRANCIS J

A funeral mass was offered Feb. 2 at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune for Francis J. Ryan, 80, of Neptune. He passed away at home on Jan. 29 surrounded by his family. Born in Jersey City, he lived there before moving to Hazlet and eventually Neptune. Francis served in the US Army during the Korean War. Later, he was a fireman with the Jersey City Fire Department where he retired as a Captain after 35 years of service. He was very involved with the Firemen’s Benevolent Association as well as the AmVets Post 61 in Jersey City where he was a Past Post Commander. For more than 20 years, Francis was an Usher at St. Benedict’s Church in Holmdel and most recently was a communicant of Holy Innocents Church in Neptune. He loved reading the newspaper and especially loved spoiling his granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie Ryan and his brothers Thomas, Neil, Patrick and Jack Ryan. He is survived by his sons Bill Ryan of Monmouth Beach and Frank Ryan, Jr. and his wife Ellen of Hillsborough, his granddaughter Kimberly Ryan, his brother Dennis Ryan and his wife Sharon of Middletown and his sister Kathleen Strausser of Bayonne. Services arranged by the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune.
