A funeral mass was offered Jan. 29 at St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City, or Ellen M. Hefferan Gaffey, 48. She died Jan. 25 under Hospice Care at Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark. Born the daughter of William D. Hefferan and the late Dorothy Gail Hefferan, she was a lifelong Jersey City resident. She was a secretary for 22 years with the Hudson County Engineering Department, Secaucus, retiring in 2010. Ellen loved her lottery scratch-offs, her Dunkin Donuts coffee but most of all, loved her family. She is survived by her husband John M. Gaffey; her daughter Danielle Gaffey; one granddaughter, Gabriella; and her siblings, Glenn, Kristin and Brian Hefferan. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
