Route 139 Lower Level westbound to close Friday night for paving

HUDSON COUNTY Route 139 Lower Level westbound to close Friday night for paving
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced that Route 139 Lower Level westbound will be closed for one night for milling and paving. The work, part of the Pulaski Skyway Contract #2, requires a detour for traffic exiting the Holland Tunnel into New Jersey.
The work is scheduled to take place Friday night, November 1, from midnight through 6:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2. Cars and trucks entering New Jersey from the Holland Tunnel will be directed to Hoboken Avenue. Motorists will be directed to turn left at John F. Kennedy Boulevard and then take a quick right onto a ramp leading to Tonnelle Circle. Cars will follow Tonnelle Circle to the Pulaski Skyway Entrance Ramp to 1&9 Southbound, and trucks will follow the Pulaski Skyway posted detour.
This work is part of the $104 million Pulaski Contract 2, which will repair and improve the upper and lower levels of Route 139. Route 139 links the eastern end of the Skyway to the Jersey City waterfront and the Holland Tunnel.
The Pulaski Skyway rehabilitation project – which is being advanced through 10 separate construction contracts into the year 2020 – will transform the Skyway from its current poor condition into one that is in a state of good repair. — Al Sullivan
