After suffering their first defeat in week 7 of the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division, the now (8-1) Eagles hoped to right the ship as they took on the (3-6) Bengals. Zipping along, the Eagles took a 16-0 lead as Drew Radil and Damon Taylor each tallied a TD and a two point conversion. Undaunted by the Eagles’ red hot start, the Bengals battled back as Andres Giron and Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes blazed through the Eagles’ defense for TD’s while Giron also tacked on a pair of two point conversions to knot he bout at 16 all. After two dropped passes, the Eagles’ offense took a big hit when the Bengals’ Andres Giron picked off a pass and took it to “The House” and after adding a two point grab, the Bengals held a 24-16 advantage. Feeding off their momentum swing, the Bengals kept rolling by adding another Cifuentes TD jaunt and a two point catch by Kasper Hooks to build a 32-16 lead. Hoping to reboot their struggling offense, QB Matt Miceli “checked off” and caught the Bengals’ “D” napping by handing the ball to Damon Taylor who raced to paydirt making it 32-22, Bengals. With the clock becoming a factor, the Eagles’ defense dug in and after two great stops by Nicholas DePinto and Da’mien Taylor, their offense took over but the drive stalled. Taking a page from the Eagles’ playbook, the Bengals surprised the Eagles’ “D” by running a draw play to Ian Giron who sprinted untouched for a 10 yard TD while Andres Giron’s two point snare put the Bengals up 40-22. Rolling the dice, the Eagles once again fellprey to a turnover as Alejandro Cifuentes picked off a tipped ball with just 36 seconds remaining. Trying to run the clock, the Bengals’ Kasper Hooks found himself running free as Hooks capped off the Bengals’ 46-22 victory with a 20 yard TD bolt. A special mention must be given to the Bengals’QB Kyle Arano who guided his squad to a very impressive win.
