KENNEDY, JOSEPH T.

A funeral mass took place Sept. 20 at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Joseph T. Kennedy, 84, a life-long Hoboken resident. He passed away Sept. 15 in the presence of his only daughter, Kathleen. A proud Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict and a benevolent retired Hoboken firefighter for more than 33 years, he retired in 1993. Joseph was a member of the Hoboken Fire Department Honor Guard, the Firemen’s Benevolent Association Local 3, IAFF Local 1078, as well as the Hoboken Exempt Firemen’s Association.
Joseph worked diligently as the assistant curator of the Hoboken Fire Department Museum, now a landmark in the Mile Square City he so loved. Also surviving is his sister Mary McCloskey, his special sisters-in-law; Mary Ann and Patricia Kennedy. Predeceased by three brothers; retired Hoboken Police Officer, Thomas, Michael and Richard and a sister, Ellen Kennedy Brady, his cherished parents; Joseph M. (former Captain Hoboken Fire Dept.) and his loving mother, Mary (nee Carey) Kennedy, and a brother-in-law, Chuck and a sister-in-law Priscilla. We further acknowledge the late Eugene and Bridie Kuhn who were a revered part of the Kennedy family. Joe was the respected step-father of Kyle Reynolds and the late Scott. Surviving is a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
