Parents united for kids, not politics

Dear Editor:
On behalf of the people of Hoboken we would like to introduce ourselves. We are Parents United, an independent slate of 3 involved citizens who are eager to provide an innovative, progressive, results oriented approach to our Board of Education.
We believe in collaboration and in sharing best practice among all of the schools in our community to create a center of excellence, a top tier education that Hoboken families deserve. We believe commitment and dedication must also bring results; we believe your hard earned dollars should be spent in programs that have significant impact. We believe that our test scores can be much better; we believe many more children from our community should graduate from Hoboken High School and attend top 4 year colleges, and we believe there is much more work to be done. Progress has been made, and we are grateful to those who work every day for our children, but our children deserve more than better, they deserve greatness.
We don’t want politics to get in the way of progress. With school taxes being raised 16 percent in the last 4 years; we need a new perspective and approach on how we spend our money. We are Hoboken residents and taxpayers, we are public and charter school parents, we are Hoboken by choice and by birth, and we all believe that Hoboken schools with a united community can be a model of educational excellence in the State.
In the coming weeks we will knock on many doors, we can’t wait to meet you and share our philosophy and ideas with you. We also want to hear your ideas and concerns too! We invite you to join us at Biggie’s (Newark St), October 4 from 6-8pm for a meet and greet to get to know each other.
We think about building a world class education for our kids 365 days a year. We cannot wait to roll up our sleeves and do our parts to help all of the kids of Hoboken receive an education that will help them achieve great success in their advanced education and careers that follow. Please contact us, talk to us, vote for us, we are Parents United, 3-6-5 on Election Day.
We look forward to meeting you and working together.

Parents United,
