College student from Jersey City to attend the Republican National Convention with class

Several Quinnipiac University students are taking advantage of an opportunity that only comes around once every four years, and for some, only once in a lifetime.

As part of a two-week seminar program, the students are in Cleveland participating in The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars’ Republican National Convention Seminar. The students, being led by Scott McLean, a professor of political science at Quinnipiac, include Ashley Nally-Nagel of Jersey City.

The students are taking part in a rigorous academic seminar this week, and will experience the convention by working with the media and in party organizations and interest groups,” McLean said. “The experience and professional contacts they received at the convention often leads to more professional opportunities later. Most importantly, the students have a wonderful time discovering and honing their civic-participation skills and understanding of the political parties.”
