At (8-0), the Colts are steam rolling their way through the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division but the (3-5) Jets continue to improve each week and handing the Colts their first loss would be a bench mark. Trading scores in the early going, the Colts and Jets found themselves knotted at 16-16 at halftime. For the Colts’ David Matos (1 TD, 2 expts), Aaliyana Cifuentes (1TD), and Toni Rivada (2 expts) set the pace while the Jets kept in stride with Mariam Rasslan (1 TD) and Anthony Baez (1 TD, 4 expts) putting up points. Mired in a defense duel, the Colts opened up the second half by playing “bombs away” as David Matos reeled in two coast to coast TDs while also joining forces with Cifuentes on a pair of two point plays to put the Colts up 32-16. Inspite of being behind by 16 points, the Jets had the Colts on the ropes throughout the bout but just couldn’t seem to land the big blow until Aviv Talmor picked off a tipped ball and raced in for a 10 yard TD cutting the Colts’ lead to 32-22. After a solid defensive stand, the Jets took over on offense and quickly marched up court with Jack Kruchkowski and Christian Benson fueling the surge. Once again on the ropes, the Colts dug in defensively as Alina Danelyants came up with a drive ending play for her Colts’ squad. Looking to ice their 9th win, the Colts hit paydirt with another Matos TD and a Rivada 2 point grab clinching a 40-22 victory.
