On Jan. 1, Anthony Romano was sworn in as a county freeholder, forcing him to vacate his spot on the nine-member Hoboken Board of Education. Nine people applied to fill the seat by last week’s deadline.
At a special board meeting next Tuesday at 6 p.m., the board members will interview the candidates in closed session. There will be public comment afterward.
However, the board is not obligated to fill the seat now. They can wait and have someone run for it in the April 21 school board election.
The next board meeting after next week is Feb. 10.
What do you think?
