FOLEY, ETHEL CATHERINE

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Ascension Church in Bradley Beach for Ethel Catherine Foley, 97, of Bradley Beach. She passed away at her home Dec. 9 surrounded by her family. Ethel worked as a school teacher and in the nursing office of the Jersey City Board of Education. She attended Fordham University where she majored in English and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Ethel was a parishioner of Ascension Church in Bradley Beach where she was a member of the Rosary Society, volunteered at the food bank and led a Renew group. Born in Jersey City, Ethel lived in Union City for 50 years before moving to Bradley Beach full time in 1980. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Foley and her grandson Patrick Foley. She is survived by her six children: George Foley and his wife Elaine of Middletown; Eileen Foley-Baehr and her husband Greg of Palmer, Alaska; Charles Foley of West Milford; John Foley and his wife Mary Ann of Jefferson; Patricia Davidson and her husband Glenn of Nevada City, Calif.; and Frank Foley and his wife Dale of Andover, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Brian Foley, Michal Foley and his wife Diane, Sean Foley, Alex Foley, Rebecca Foley, Carolyn Foley and Laura Foley. She will be deeply missed by her devoted caretaker and friend Adela Bak. Services arranged by the Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar.
