One local teenager has his own internet radio show with a prominent Jersey City-based company and has landed interviews with teen heartthrob Nick Jonas and pop music siren Miley Cyrus.
Sixteen-year old Zach Sang, a junior at Wayne Valley High School in Wayne, works with Goom Radio, an on-line entertainment source that lets users host and share their own radio shows with friends. The shows can be heard at www.goomradio.com.
Hosting his first show from his bedroom two years ago, the Wayne resident now commutes to 101 Hudson St. in Jersey City to host his teen celebrity show, WZAP Radio, which has a reported two million online listeners.

An avid Twitter fan, Sang said that having his own radio show is the perfect job for him. “I love music and I love to talk,” he said.
The McGreevey incident
The aspiring TV personality stirred up the most internet chatter after an impromptu encounter with ex-governor Jim McGreevey backstage at a Miley Cyrus concert a few years ago. When Sang bumped into McGreevey, he talked to him about the pop star. Then he wrote about the encounter on line. Sang’s post was featured on the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column, which outed the 52-year old ex-pol as a Cyrus fan.
“The whole thing was taken out of proportion,” said Sang, who carries a tape recorder with him at all times. “But I did get a chance for an interview for five or 10 minutes, which was really great.”
Although Sang has landed interviews with some pretty big names, he said he rarely gets starstruck.
“Sometimes I do,” said the 16-year old. “I stutter maybe once or twice. But then, both myself and the celebrity recognize we’re both teenagers talking about teen subjects, and we both warm up.”
Tweet, Tweet
Sang loves all things pop culture. Tweeting (sending short messages via Twitter) has become a way of life for the young journalist, who said he sometimes breaks entertainment news through that site.
“I Tweet about anything from news to random things,” he said. He recently informed Tweeters that teen idol Joe Jonas just got a Twitter account.
“Here I am Tweeting about how Joe Jonas just got a Twitter account,” he said.
But mostly, Sang posts random, frivolous comments on his account throughout the day. His last comment: “Making friends on the subway.”
Best part of Jersey City
Without a driver’s license, Sang said he is a “true commuter” making his way from his home in Wayne to Jersey City.
“One of the best things about the Jersey City is the public transportation. Trains are my best friend,” he said.
The next best thing about Jersey City: “The Five Guys [burger restaurant] that just opened” near Hudson Street.
