BAYONNE – Mickey McCabe, founder of McCabe Ambulance Service, returned from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Friday, November 4, after undergoing surgery for a double lung transplant, according to an online report. In July, McCabe told the Bayonne Community News, “I have a 9/11 lung, so I’m on oxygen 24 hours, seven days a week.” According to the report, McCabe was on the waiting list for the double lung transplant for 36 days. He will reportedly undergo physical therapy for six to eight weeks. Full recovery could take a year.
