GAUGHAN, WILLIAM A.

78, passed away at his residence on October 18, 2016, with his family at his side. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, he was a resident of Hudson County since 1964. Mr. Gaughan was a funeral director and co-owner of Houghton Funeral Home. He was the longest serving Councilperson in Jersey City and the former Chief of Staff for the County of Hudson. Mr. Gaughan was also the co-founder of Hudson Hospice. He proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Gaughan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bernadette (nee: Krull); his daughter, Bridget Gaughan Ludlow; his grandson, James William Gaughan Dickson; his sister, Doreen Stabile; his son-in-law, Richard Ludlow; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bridget (nee: Kennedy) and Anthony Gaughan; his daughter, Eileen “Beanie;” and his sister, Ann Marie Jewell.
