Arano, Cifuentes duo spark Chargers win

The JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division kicked off their 2016 season with the Chargers facing the Bengals. Getting out to a fast start, the Charges built an 10-0 lead as Aaliyana Cifuentes went coast to coast on the game’s first play followed by her two point catch and a two point safety as the Chargers’ defense stepped up. Shaking off their first game jitters, the Bengals responded as Chris Ballance notched a long TD catch and an interception returned for a TD to put the Bengals up 12-10. After a QB miscue, the Chargers returned to the air as AaliyanaCifuentes hauled in a TD with Alejandro Cifuentes tacking on a two point snare to give the Chargers an 18-12 lead. Two plays later the Chargers’ lead expanded to 24-12 as Alejandro Cifuentes picked off a Bengals’ pass and raced in for a score. Down by 12, the Bengals fired back as Mike Piscopo reeled in a TD and two point dart. Holding a slim 24-20 lead, the Chargers gained some breathing room as QB Kyle Arano fired a TD pass to a leaping Alejandro Cifuentes followed by a two point scamper by Mariam Rasslan for a 32-20 advantage. Adding to their advantage, Alejandro Cifuentes returned another “Picksix” interception before making it 40-20 with another acrobatic grab for two points. With time ticking away, the Bengals worked up court with a 10 yard run by Anthony Baez setting up Drew Radil’s 5 yard TD catch making it 40-26, Chargers. Staying with QB Kyle Arano’s pin point passing, the Chargers closed out the action with a TD toss to Rasslan and a two point bullet to Alejandro Cifuentes to cap a 48-26 Chargers victory.
