Slow down!

To the Editor:

Diane Kellmyer is right on par with her complaints about drivers. This summer my car was totaled when it was parked on Kennedy by a drunken bum who they arrested. I have seen motorists on the Boulevard doing at least 45 mph in a 25 mph speed zone, especially at night, ignoring yellow and red lights. By the way, a yellow light legally means prepare to stop the vehicle, not to race through it. Jersey City was apparently dealing with this for a few weeks in the summer by timing every other light so that it would turn red on the Boulevard. Kudos to them! What about temporary or permanent speed bumps on the Boulevard, especially by Gregg Park? Cell phones, cigarettes, hot, humungous cups of coffee, pizza, you name it. I don’t go above the speed limit, so when and if I get tailed, I throw on my flashers. A friend of mine, an ex-fireman from Newark, flashes his lights on and off when he gets tailgated. I’m not that daring. My 90-year-old uncle wears a Stetson cowboy hat. OK, it’s kid’s stuff compared to how a lot of morons on Queens Boulevard drive, but aren’t we Jerseyians a cut above those all too many psychos to the east of us?
