Gluten free, allergy free expo this weekend
A “Gluten Free and Allergen Friendly Expo” will take place Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus. Attendees will sample the newest gluten-free products from more than 100 vendors.
The expo begins at 355 Plaza Drive starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m daily. A single-day adult pass is $15, a single day child pass is $5, and kids under 3 are free. The parking is free. To purchase tickets and learn more information about ticket prices and allergens visit www.gfafexpo.com.

North Bergen resident is new vice president of NJAASC board

The New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers has announced North Bergen resident Jeffrey Shanton as the vice president of the board of directors. Shanton will serve a two-year term, and is the director of billing and business development at Journal Square Surgical Center, LLC, in Jersey City.

Free breast cancer seminar Oct. 19

Physicians from John Theurer Cancer Center at HackensackUMC Palisades will hold a seminar about breast cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the physicians will discuss current research, early detection, and prevention, and treatment options for breast cancer.
The admission, parking, and refreshments are free. There will be free transportation from 60th Street and Bergenline Avenue starting at 5:30 p.m. The seminar will take place at HackensackUMC Palisades on 7600 River Road.

Halloween at the Meadowlands Oct. 27

Celebrate Halloween at DeKorte Park on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will be games, crafts, and activities throughout the evening, including hayrides and the Witch’s Den. Take your kids on the Historical Figures of the Meadowlands Not-So Spooky Walk where they’ll meet the Pirates who inhabited the region in the 1600’s, Muskrat Trappers, Pig Farmers and other distinctive figures that give the Meadowlands its unique personality. The event is $8 per person, and registration is required. Walks are recommended for children ages 5 through 12 and last approximately 30 to 40 minutes. When registering, please select your Not-So-Spooky Walk time slot, but don’t forget to come early and enjoy all the activities. Don’t forget your costume also.
