GRAW, WILLIAM H.

A funeral service was held Oct. 5 for William H. “Jinx” Graw of Lyndhurst. He passed away Oct. 2 while surrounded by his family. Born in Jersey City, he served as a Jersey City police officer for the past 28 years. William was a trustee of the Police Officers Benevolent Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of the Hispanic American Law Enforcement Association and the Jersey City Emerald Society. Jinx, as he was referred to by his friends and family, was known for opening his home and heart to many, and his generosity and kindness are legendary. He had a particularly soft spot for the elderly. William was a fabulous baker, an avid currency collector and a talented carpenter. He could fix just about anything with ease.
William was predeceased by his father Henry Graw Sr., and his brother, Henry Graw Jr. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Andrea; his daughters Alexandria J. Graw and Gianna N. Graw; his mother, Margaret Graw; siblings, Louis Sierio, Harold Hughes, James Hughes, Judy O’Brien, Gertie O’Brien and Christina Graw; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, Brothers in Blue, and friends too numerous to mention, but all very dear to him.
