COOPER, GEORGE D.

A funeral service was held Oct. 5 at New Redeemer R.E. Church, Jersey City, for George D. Cooper, 60. He passed away Oct. 1 at Jersey City Medical Center. He was born on in Jersey City to Eleanor Saunders Cooper and the late George Cooper. In 1991, George finally settled down and married Richiedene Singleton and together they had three children, Morgan, David, and Cierra. George was employed by the Jersey City Board of Education for over 30 years. George loved his hometown and was involved in the start up of the community garden on the corner of Clinton and Crescent Avenues. He was devoted to his worship as he attended New Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church and served as the church’s senior warden. George is survived by his mother, Eleanor; three children, Morgan, David, Cierra, four siblings, Denise (Charles) Truesdale, Donna (Wilbert) Hightower, Darren (Sylvia) Cooper, and Dennis Cooper; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
