Hoboken preparing for possibility of Hurricane Matthew

HOBOKEN – Hoboken, which was largely flooded by Hurricane Sandy back in October of 2012, is closely monitoring Hurricane Matthew, which could strike the area on late Sunday if its present track keeps up.
City spokesman Juan Melli said on Tuesday afternoon: “At this point the city is monitoring forecasts, and we are prepared to activate emergency plans if and when warranted. Regardless of whether or not this storm hits our area, we urge residents to make sure they are prepared for all emergencies. In particular, they should sign up for our Nixle alerts (www.hobokennj.gov/alerts) and our reverse 911 system (www.hobokennj.gov/emergency). They should also have an emergency plan in place, including for pets, and an emergency kit with food, water, radio, flashlight, batteries, etc. We have much more detailed information at www.hobokennj.gov/ready.”
