Funeral services were held Sept. 19 for Hector D. Batista, Sr., 68, of Jersey City. He passed away Sept. 13. He came to Jersey City from Puerto Rico as a young man. He worked for many years as a machine operator at United Wire, Metal and Machine in Newark . Hector was a cigar aficionado and also a connoisseur of fine hats. He loved to bicycle around the city in his free time. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Hector was predeceased by his wife, Angela Ramos Batista. He was the father of Hector D. Batista, Jr. (and his wife Yurzon), Gladys Torres (and her husband Tomas), Rose Rios Ramos, Evette Ramos (and her husband Billy) and the late Janette Ramos; Caring brother of Francisco, Maria Julia, Radames, Marco, Ramona, Reina, Carmen and the late Victor and Jose Manuel Batista; Adoring grandfather of Justin, Alexis, Hector, Yasmine, Yinexi, Gilberto, Richard, Anthony, Andrew, Jose, Diana, Bianca, Amanda, Jasmine and Nazareth; great-grandfather of Noah, Amari, Jaliyah and Malia.
