On Sunday, September 11, 2016, the September 11th…Bayonne Remembers Committee held its annual Interfaith Memorial Service and Candlelight Vigil – this year commemorating the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.
The committee wishes to thank the participating members of the clergy, including Rev. Joseph F. Barbone, who served as Master of Ceremonies; Rev. John Fencik; Rabbi Cathy Felix; Rev. Alfie Pangilinan; Rev. Gary Grindeland; Ms. Irene Pike for Rev. Dorothy A. Patterson; Rev. Raul Gaviola; Rev. Marcel Szabo; Rabbi Jacob Benzaquen; Rev. Andrew Kujawa, and Waheed Akbar for the heartfelt prayers, readings, and reflections.
Special thanks, also, to Mayor James M. Davis; the Bayonne Municipal Council; Dr. Joseph Ryan; Police Chief Drew Niekrasz; Fire Chief Keith Weaver; Bayonne Police and Fire Departments; Veterans’ Groups; Color Guards from the Bayonne Police and Fire Departments, Knights of Columbus, and Bayonne Memorial Day Parade Committee; the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Dr. Patricia L. McGeehan, Superintendent of Schools; Anthony Good, Director of the Bayonne High School Marching Band; Detective William Petersen, Pipe Major, Bayonne Police Pipes & Drums, Bagpiper; Valentine Koltunowiz, Taps; Gary Chmielewski, Director of Bayonne Public Works Department; Peter Amadeo, Supervisor, Bayonne Parks and Recreation; the Bayonne High School Marching Band; Bayonne Fire Canteen, and all who attended the Service.
