Union City student recognized with national honor

A Union City High School student has been selected to be a member of the prestigious National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).
Steven E. Negron, a junior, found out in May that he had been named to the organization, which recognize student who succeed in leadership, scholarship and community commitment.
According to a press release, NSHSS “recognizes excellence at the high school level and helps to advance the goals and aspirations of high-achieving millennials.”
Negron has taken Advanced Placement classes and participated in Hudson Community College’s LEAP Program. He currently holds a 4.3 GPA and has been inducted into honor societies for mathematics, science, English and Spanish. Negron is aspiring to become an engineer and recently became a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
