ROMANOWSKI, THEODORE W.

Funeral mass was held Aug. 3 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Jersey City, for Theodore W. Romanowski, 66, known as “Buddy” to all. He died July 29 at his home in Oak Ridge. Born in Jersey City, the son of the late Rita (McDonald) and Theodore Romanowski, he lived in Bayonne for 22 years before moving to Oak Ridge in 1996. He retired in 2001 after 22 years as a painter at the St. Francis Hospital, Jersey City. He was a longtime coach and officer of the Bayonne Little League, a coach for the Bayonne Pop Warner League, a lifelong Yankees and Giants fan and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a lifelong supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital . He was husband for 40 years to the late Helen Terhune Romanowski; father of Ted and his wife Robin, James and Michael Romanowski and his wife Izabela; Pop to Charlie, Grace, Max Chloe, Justin, Madison, Rebecca, Jake and Leah; brother of Robert Romanowski, Nancy Mastrella, the late Kathy O’Leary and Sharon Fleming; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
