Mickiewicz wills Devils to another win

It’s never easy to be “the hunted” team in any sport. For the (2-0-1) Devils, the target is squarely on them as they take on the (0-2-1) Penguins in the JCC of Bayonne Sr. Division Floor Hockey League. Once again, getting out to a fast start the Devils built a 2-0 lead as Alejandro Cifuentes and Marek Mickiewicz each notched a goal and an assist. Focused on keeping pace, the Penguins made it 2-1 as Alex Riboldi zipped a break away pass to Harsh Easwar who cashed in with his first goal of the season. Returning the favor, the Devils blazed up court as Cifuentes assisted Mickiewicz on his 2nd goal of the bout making it 3-1, Devils. Boasting the league’s best defense, the Devils suffered a lapse as the Penguins’ Harsh Easwar and Logan Mazziota bulled in goals to tie the game at 3-3. After surrendering the lead, the Devils’ defense snapped back as Zachary Ciesmelewski returned to form at net while defenseman, Tristan Wolenski made his mark by assisting Mickiewicz on his 3rd goal of the game to put the Devils back on top at 4-3. Not willing to give up the fort, the Penguins’ Alex Riboldi drummed in an unassisted goal to knot the game at 4-4 with just 7 minutes left to play. Finding themselves in a dog fight, it took a great defensive effort by Mariam Rasslan and an unassisted laser shot by Mickiewicz to help the Devils escape with a 5-4 win.
