Gala to benefit Hoboken public schools

Dear Editor:
I write to advise you and the Hoboken community of the Hoboken Public Education Foundation, which I helped form late last year. The Hoboken Public Education Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support the Hoboken public district schools through private funding. With the support of Superintendent Dr. Christine Johnson and the incredible contributions of local businesses and residents, we have already raised thousands of dollars that have directly benefited Hoboken students. The funds raised have allowed us to sponsor a special district-wide Family Science Nights series for K-6 grade students and as well as the Hoboken Green Team’s Storm Drain Mural Project in which students will bring much-needed attention to water pollution issues through their creativity and artwork. All of this great work was recognized last month when I accepted Mayor Dawn Zimmer’s nomination for recognition as a Hudson County Executive’s Honoree for Women’s History Month. We are very proud of what we have already accomplished in such a short time.
This is a particularly exciting time for the Hoboken Public Education Foundation as we announce our inaugural Gala, which will take place on Thursday, May 19 at the W Hotel in Hoboken. The Gala is open to all adults and will feature food, drinks, a charity auction and raffles, with proceeds to benefit the students of the Hoboken public schools. Gala ticket information and sponsorship opportunities can be found on our website www.HobokenPEF.org . We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Kind regards,
Shirael Pollack
