JERSEY CITY – A man seated in a car with a woman and baby was fatally shot near Martin Luther King Drive and Oak Street at about 8 p.m. on April 26, according to Jersey City Police.
The victim has tentatively been named as Christopher Jackson, who was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health at about 8:30 p.m.
The motive for the shooting has yet to be determined, although one local official said shootings of this sort are sometimes the result of a mistaken identification or a previous vendetta.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has not yet taken over the investigation, said Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino.
“It has not yet officially been ruled a homicide yet,” Rubino said.
