SILVER, SELMA LOPATKIN

Selma Lopatkin Silver, wife of the late Stanley Silver, passed away on Sunday, April 3 in Hoboken and was laid to rest on Monday, April 4 at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin. Selma was born in Hoboken on April 17, 1924, and was a life-long resident of Hoboken. She and her husband Stanley were leaders in the Jewish War Veterans, United Jewish Appeal, United Synagogue of Hoboken, Jewish Family Service of Jersey City, Bayonne and Hoboken, and many other charitable organizations. Together they were pillars of the Hoboken Jewish community and helped the community to endure through some challenging decades when its future was in doubt. Selma is survived by her sister-in-law, Miriam Lazarus; nieces and nephews including Jeri Hurvitz, Jacqueline Gladstone, Gail Zimmer, and Marlene Heald; and other relatives and many dear friends.
