Car hits charter school

JERSEY CITY – A 21-year-Jersey City man suffering from an apparent medical issue crashed a car into the front of BelovEd Charter School in Jersey City on April 4.
The Jersey City Fire Department responded to the scene on the report of a car on fire that crashed into a school.
The driver removed himself from the vehicle and the FD removed the vehicle from the building and secured the damaged area.
The driver told police that he worked a security company on the Hudson Bergen Light Rail and was responding to a call at the Hoboken station when he lost consciousness.
“When he awoke he had noticed that he had crashed into the building and thought his vehicle was on fire,” the police report said.
At this point, the driver turned off the engine and called 911.The driver was treated at the scene and transported to JCMC for injuries. No charges were filed as this appeared to be from a medical issue.
Nobody was injured as a result of the crash and city officials said the building was still structurally sound.
