‘Sensory Friendly Films’ offered for autistic viewers

The Autism Society have teamed up with a local theater chain to offer the “Sensory Friendly Films” program as a special opportunity for individuals living with autism and others to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis.
The Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, New Jersey’s largest outlet and value retail center with over 200 stores under one roof, announced that the AMC Theatres has expanded its schedule of Sensory Friendly Films offered to moviegoers to four showings per month – the second and fourth Tuesday and Saturday.
In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for individuals on the autism spectrum, the movie auditorium keeps their lights slightly up and the sound slightly down. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing. Because some have strict, special dietary needs, families are permitted to bring their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks from home.
AMC Loews Jersey Gardens 20 is located at The Mills at Jersey Gardens, 651 Kapkowski Rd., Elizabeth, at the rear of the mall next to Applebee’s.
Times vary, visit www.amctheatres.com for more details.
