Boola Boola Bayonne High

To the Editor:

These words are applicable to two items, which should be on the immediate agenda of the Board Of Education. Each is equally important to your readers. Let me explain.
First of all, the teachers, taxpayers, parents, and students would like what is a fair contract. Each has a personal concern. Still, they would be unanimous in that the primary focus must be on a thorough and efficient education. A dedicated, caring, and well trained staff can only provide quality instruction for a future career/college.
Second, the Bayonne school’s mission is to meet the needs of all students. The security staff provides a safe environment. The child study team provides assistance to meet an individual’s special needs. The secretaries provide valuable information in a patient and courteous manner. The student center, guidance counselors, and psychologists are available each and every period to meet anyone’s concerns be it personal, social, career, or college.
In closing, I am curious why a parent thinks it best for a person to attend a school in North Bergen or Jersey City. Are they aware of the above paragraph? Did they compare the achievement of the top 100 BHS seniors to other schools? In academics, we have the most “Advanced Placement” courses; in business, we are the only school affiliated with NJCU for college credit; in technology; there is an ever increasing number of higher level computer and engineering subjects; in vocational; a very worthwhile program exits to prepare students for the trades.
The obvious integral part is the T-E-A-C-H-E-R.
